Project 2: Jump Animation
Figure 1.1
It started by placing the character in a neutral, relaxed pose. I adjusted the character's standing posture based on the video reference, as from the video, his body centered a little more in front. The arms were also moved down to appear hanging to either side.
Figure 1.2
Before jumping, the character must compress its body. I adjusted the character's body pose into a squat by lowering his hips. I also adjusted the bending forward, trying to make an arc to his back, but I couldn't make it exactly like the reference, because I found it weird with the posture with the head if continued bending his upper body lower.
Figure 1.3
When the character was about to take off, his body extended as the legs pushed off the ground, his heel had already lifted off the ground, but his toes remained in place. For the arms, it needed to swing up to provide momentum. His hands were leading in the direction that he was taking off the ground.
Figure 1.4
Our lecturer preferred to set the keyframe on the pre-landing post first. I first moved the whole character to the spot where he jumped. Then, when the character was about to land, his heels would be the first to touch the ground. Other than that, I copied the posture according to the video including the legs, arms, and body arc.
Figure 1.5
Coming back to the mid-air posture, I needed to move the entire character up to a higher position. In this pose, the character would be tucking up his leg, with his hands closer to his face and his head was slightly upper as he needed to look where he was going to land.
Figure 1.6
Continuing with the landing pose, the character's legs were bent and his feet were flat on the ground. The hands were moved backward and up. His head was facing to the ground a bit and his back was arched forward.
Figure 1.7
From here, he stood back up again like the neutral posture, but it still contained a little swinging on his arms although his legs had stopped.
Figure 1.8
After getting done with all the poses, the animation was almost done, but the timing of it was too slow. So, I adjusted the timing of each keyframe until it had achieved the timing I wanted.
Figure 1.9
Figure 1.10
Lastly was some graph editing part on the heels, as from the reference video, he lowered his heels faster, so I needed to adjust the graph flow. And also the arms swinging.
Figure 1.11
This was the camera position where I could capture all the movements of the character.
Figure 1.12
The provided lightings were a little too bright and it couldn't focus on the character, so I added the lighting on my own.
Adjustment:

Figure 2.3
Above were some adjustment based on sir's feedback, which were the legs could be a little off set to make it more natural in the mid-air, the head could be rotated upwards during the jump, lastly was the arm swinging after landing. All of the adjustments were through graph editor, which was quite convenient to correct the posture and found out the mistakes.
