  • Prepared a list of questions to gain understanding of the project

  • Each of us provided one or two ideas about what we were going to do for this project, and mine idea was doing cosmetic products.

  • Brainstorming about the product ideas that attract both market of target audiences (gaming and home living)

  • Research the market trend and reviews on local blogs, forums, and e-commerce sites and see why certain items of the said target audience would still be in trend or are in demand.

  • Finalising product category

  • For our research method, we decided to do a survey questionnaire. Above is the first draft of our questionnaire.

Week 5

We organized the survey questions last week, we still needed to review them again to ensure that the questionnaire could accurately provide us with effective information.

Then, we sent the survey form to relatives, friends, and also different platforms like reddit, facebook forum groups that are related to gaming.

Week 6

  • Create SWOT Analysis to identify internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as external opportunities and threats.
  • Create brand positioning to understand where our brand's value lied within this market.

  • Brand analysis help us to analyze relevant brands in the market.

  • Other than the survey questionnaire, we also decided to do another research method to gain more insight and collect information.
  • We prepared another set of questions for online interview and our target interviewers were content creator, game streamer, and casual gamers.

Week 7

  • Analyzing the results of the survey questionnaire.

  • Analyzing the results from online interviews.

After completing the analyzing results, we proceeded to the next stage which was empathy map, user personas, insight discovery, problem statement, and how might we statement. Sir also provided us some guides and corrections on the statement.

Week 8

We have chosen two names from many as our brand names: Pink Phantom and Pinkurio. Due to time constraints, we have all been assigned different tasks, and I, along with two other team members, have been assigned to the design part.

  • Logo sketch for Pink Phantom.

I used "phantom" as the inspiration for the logo design and sketched out different shapes of phantoms with various body sizes. Some gaming elements were also added to the design, such as their faces with four buttons as their cheeks, and their eyes were shaped from the gaming consoles.

Then, I tried incorporating the name with the image in different compositions, using a futuristic-themed font.

  • Logo sketch for Pinkurio.

Since Pinkurio doesn't have a tangible item like the previous name for me to design, I had to use the first letter as the logo design. From the insights we gathered earlier, there was mention of a futuristic theme, so the font choices were quite leaning towards a sci-fi feel. For the letter "P" at the left, the inspiration was from the Tron logo, aiming to capture its sleek and modern design elements.

Because I was concerned that the existing design ideas might not be sufficient, I sketched a few more logos related to the letter "P," incorporating some gaming elements. To ensure these designs reflect our brand's characteristics, I drew inspiration from popular gaming design styles such as futuristic themes and gaming controllers.

Week 9

  • We discussed the brand name and made a final decision.
We decided on "Pinkify" as reflect the vibrant and customisable nature of our gaming accessories. The word “Pink” represents the playful and creative aspects of our products, aligning with our brand theme of offering pink themed accessories. The suffix “ify” suggests transformation and personalisation, indicating that customers can tailor their gaming setups to their unique preferences. Pinkify aims to bring individuality and joy to gamers setup with a contemporary, unique and fun brand personality.

As for the logo mark, we decided to use back the letter "P" from Pinkurio.

Week 10
  • Digitalized the logo in Illustrator.

It blends futuristic and modern design elements to capture the brand’s personality and mission. The logo mark is the letter “P”  with a partial cut through the letter suggests transformation for personalized gaming accessories. Geometric shapes convey strength and performance, reflecting the high-quality nature of Pinkify. The sleek cutting edge design aligns with the brand integration of sci-fi themes, appealing to gamers who value contemporary aesthetics.

  • We overlooked the graphic elements aspect.

I searched on Pinterest for many futuristic elements as references. Many suggestions gave me neon and cyberpunk designs, but most of the background colors were black or dark. Since the design we are aiming for is aesthetic, I need to merge the concepts of futuristic and aesthetic to create these elements.

Above are the ideas I sketched out first. I used two color palettes for the designs: one is the original one we set, and the other leans towards sunset colors but predominantly pink.

  • Digitalized these elements in Illustrator.

I chose the above elements into our desing because the wave lines create a fluid visual effect, evoking a sense of movement and energy that aligns with the futuristic theme and the flowing nature adds an elements of fun to the design. For the gradients, it is a modern design trend, which supports the contemporary aspect of our brand identity. It also add depth and dimension to the design, enhancing the visual appeal and create a modern, polished look. The four geometric shapes are inspired by the buttons from game controller, directly connecting to the gaming aspect of our brand.

  • Proposal Presentation

Week 11 - 14

  • Product Modeling

We have listed several items that need to be modeled, such as keyboards, keycaps, gaming chairs, and beanbags. Another team member and I are each responsible for modeling two items, and I am responsible for the keyboard and keycaps. We also plan to use these models in different application scenarios, such as showcasing their versatility and aesthetics in advertisements. Additionally, I will ensure that the colors and designs of the models are consistent with the brand to leave a lasting visual impression on the audience.

  • Reel Animation

Besides product modeling, I'm also responsible for the Reels on social media. This is because Reels can quickly capture the audience's attention and showcase the features of the product and the brand's style in a short video format, making it a very effective promotional tool.

Since our brand mainly sells keyboards, the first scene will be a close-up shot of the keyboard, showcasing its exquisite design and high-quality craftsmanship.

Next, we will showcase our customization services by displaying pink keyboards with different patterns, allowing the audience to see the diversity and personalization options of our products.

Last but not least, the logo must appear before the animation ends because it enhances brand recognition and leaves a lasting impression on the audience. This ensures that viewers remember our brand and can easily recognize our products in the future.

  • Social Media Ads and Stories

Additionally, social media ad posts are also important because they can quickly reach a wide audience and directly interact with potential customers. Through beautiful designs and engaging content, we can effectively enhance brand awareness and attractiveness, increasing sales opportunities.

For the first post, I would be placing a 3D render of a premium keyboard on the podium. Ensure the keyboard is well-lit and positioned to showcase its design and features. Then, for the background and lighting, I would use the soft pink background as it gives a futuristic and stylish look, emphasizing the premium quality of the product.

For the second post, I planned to attract customers by showing some trendy gaming products, so I decided to model different patterns of the famous character "Kirby". The pink theme and cute characters immediately catch the eye and give a trendy, playful vibe.

  • Customization Guide Posts

Referring to the previous seniors' works, their social media had various posts, and one of them was a customization guide post, so we decided to create a similar one.

We will use a combination of images and text to clearly illustrate each step, making it easy for users to personalize their products.

Week 15

  • This is the finalized version of the website prototype.

  • We also completed the social media posts.

  • Besides, we also had product packaging for our products like keyboards and keycaps.

  • Final Presentation

REFLECTION

Reflecting on this minor project, I have learned a lot of new knowledge and am very grateful for the support and cooperation of my teammates. Although we experienced various challenges, we ultimately worked hard to complete the project. In every task, they helped each other improve our efficiency. Additionally, Mr. Mike's feedback played a crucial role in keeping us on the right track and ensuring we met our objectives. His insights prompted us to gain a deeper understanding of customer needs and refine our target audience, which significantly improved the quality of our project.

Although I still have a lot to learn in this area and much room for improvement, I have gained a lot of knowledge about brand building. During this process, from market research and product design to marketing strategies. This experience has been very meaningful, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such an outstanding team and receive truly valuable guidance.
