Week 9
We were briefed about the next task during the previous class. In this task,
we had to design our own instrument. There were two types of methodology,
which were quantitative and qualitative. We could choose to conduct our
research by selecting one of the methods or both.
My decision was to use quantitative method, which was a questionnaire. After
making the decision, I began to think of the questions that I wanted to ask in
the questionnaire.
These were the questions that I could think of for my questionnaire. During
the consultation, my lecturer suggested me to find a wider target audience
because my first decision of target audience was the anime society club on
campus. She told me to search for anime forum groups and joined them, which
allowed me to approach different anime viewers.
Week 10
Before the consultation, I had moved my questions to the form. I forgot to
save the draft, so basically my first attempt of the form had a lot of
problems that were pointed out during the consultation. Firstly, the questions
I design were all open-ended questions, which were not relatable to
quantitative method and it would be hard to arrange the collected data.
Secondly, the questions in the previous few topics were all unrelated to the
survey's main focus, and the main purpose of this questionnaire was
unclear.
After getting the feedback, I reworked on the form by adding some selections,
rearranging the questions, and reconsidering the relevance of the
questions.
Week 11
I showed my corrections during the consultation and I still needed to rephrase
the questions because some of them were biased. Other than that, some
questions should change to open-ended questions to let the respondents provide
more opinions or change the styles of questions like multiple choice grid,
linear grid other than checkbox, or multiple choice.
After finalizing the form, I posted it to the forum groups that I had joined
on different platforms.
My lecturer also asked me whether I had another method for this primary
research. So, my opinion was to do an interview with the video creator who did
anime reviews on Youtube because they had more experience watching anime and
could provide a more detailed analysis of anime content.
These were the questions that I wanted to interview them. Before sending the
questions, I needed to send a request mail to them that was provided in the
teams.
Week 12
For this week, I needed to arrange the data collected and documented them in a
slide. The slide was a template that I found online.
