Final Task: Journal Publication
In the final task, we were to adapt our dissertation into a concise paper
suitable for publication, adhering to The Design School KREATE journal's
requirement. We were also been given a template to write our article in the
document.
We were only required to choose one objective and one research question for
our article, which was to smaller the writing area. Since I only had two
objectives which were the changes in anime content and factors that affect the
evolution, I preferred the first objective. Our lecturer also told us to make
adjustments to the title to a narrower area during the lecture. So, I changed
my title to "The Changes of Content in Japanese Anime in the past decade."
From the dissertation file, I had a few paragraphs in my abstract, so I
summarized them to the word limit of 200 words. From the information provided
by my lecturer, the abstract in the article should include a certain
introduction, aim, methodology, findings, discussion, and conclusion.
The following part was the introduction. I cut a few sentences from the
dissertation of research background and made it according to the word count.
For problem statement, I summarized the first and last paragraphs into a few
sentences, because it was some introduction, so considering the word limit, I
kept the important points of the second paragraph.
The next part was methodology. Unlike dissertation, I needed to elaborate on
each part, but in the article, I summarized the target respondents, research
locale, and methodology used in one paragraph. Then I had more word count to
explain my research instrument.
In my findings part, I began with an intro about how many respondents had
responded to my questionnaire. Then, I chose two close-ended questions and two
open-ended questions. Since during the lecture, we only had to choose a few
findings to write that were related to the research objective. The above
document was just a draft, so I will apply the images to it.
After I was done with the findings, I selected the points that were related to
the objective I chose.
