Research Proposal

Week 1

During the first week of the class, we had a brief session about the module and a talk about specializations. The session was an introduction to different specializations that we needed to decide for the next semester. After that, we were required to pick a specialization because for this module, we needed to do research according to our chosen specialization.

The task for this week would be to decide on the specialization and from the specialization, we need to decide on a research topic, followed by a rationale.

Week 2

The specialization that I picked was digital animation. I struggled a lot with deciding on a research topic, as the range of it was very wide. My final decision on the topic was the evolution of animation because I’ve been curious about how animation was made during the old times and nowadays.

This was the first draft of the proposal:

The feedback that I got from my lecturer was the range of this topic was too wide and it may take a lot of time to do the research. From the suggestions provided, I decided to minimize the range to Japanese anime, because I wanted to pick a topic that I'm interested in.

Week 3

I'd change the topic and rewrite the rationale. I was unsure whether my rationale was written correctly because the content I wrote was based on my personal experience and feelings. I also tried to write a problem statement but still unclear about what content should include in the statement.

The second draft of research proposal:

I didn't get the feedback during the session, but from the examples provided by my lecturer, I thought I had a clearer direction but actually did not.

Week 4

I search for articles that were relevant to my topic and rewrote the problem statement.

The third draft of research proposal:

From the feedback given, the topic was also too wide and the research problem was unclear. After the consultation, I reduced the range of the topic and decided to start over again. I referred to the examples provided and began to rewrite my proposal.

The final draft of research proposal:

Since I didn't find a statement that proved my research problem, I continued finding articles that mentioned it.

Finalize proposal:

After completing it in the doc, I needed to create a slide for this proposal. Since I was rushing for the submission, I used a template that suited the topic. I arranged my content according to the submission requirements and inserted the text into the slides.

Final Submission:
